ICCE Post Secondary Bursaries

This bursary is offered once each year to three eligible persons. Each bursary is in the amount of $500.00 for attendance in a course of study in any recognized educational institute, anywhere in the world.
The deadline for applications is August 15.

Rules for Eligibility:

1. Preference will be given to applicants of Icelandic descent, but other will be considered.

2. The applicant must be a resident in the province of Alberta, Canada.

3. The applicant, or parent/guardian/grandparents, must be a member in good standing with the ICCE.

4. Applicants must submit a letter explaining their plans for the future and how their Icelandic culture is important to them.

5. Applicants must provide proof of success in their last school attended, with a transcript of marks achieved and a letter of reference from a teacher or other official at that school. These should attest to a positive involvement in courses of study and extra curricular activities.

6. Proof of acceptance in a post secondary institute.

7. In the event of competition for this bursary, the Executive Board of the ICCE may choose students based upon qualities beyond scholastic achievement, such as demonstrated in their personal letter.

8. This is intended as a "one time bursary." However, in the event that there are fewer than three qualified applicants, the Board of the ICCE may grant to an individual a second bursary in a following year, providing that the conditions for eligibility meet the requirements as presented above.

9. The bursary will be presented at the Leif Ericksson dinner in September, in which the successful applicant will be asked to read their letter and/or prepare a speech.
